UK rockers Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes recently shared their instructional new single ‘Go Get A Tattoo’. With the release, the band and their team have well and truly committed to an inked theme, encouraging fans to engage with some pretty exciting, tattoo-themed activations to promote the new track.

Featuring fellow UK artist, Lynks, ‘Go Get A Tattoo’ was inspired by Carter’s experience closing his London tattoo parlour, Rose Of Mercy, over the course of 2020’s lockdown. A sad, and all too relatable ordeal for business owners worldwide. On the day of the single release, Carter took to the Rattlesnake’s Instagram to share his passion and gratitude for the art.

Two days after the release, Rose Of Mercy hosted the ‘Go Get A Tattoo’ flash day, with Carter himself tattooing clients, alongside the parlour’s other artists. The event saw an eager crowd line up for the chance to score some new ink, and to support one of the many businesses impacted by the pandemic. The event was even topped off with an appearance from Lynks.

The band also launched an AR Instagram filter that transformed users into a Carter look alike - complete with his signature facial and neck tattoos, and red hair. We tried it out and can safely say it helped us feel significantly more punk rock.

The inked goodness didn’t stop there. Just last week, the band announced they’d be running the #GoGetATattoo competition on TikTok. Till August 30th, fans were invited to show off their favourite tattoo, talented tattoo artist mates, weirdest drunk tattoos and everything in between. One lucky entrant will be treated to a free tattoo from Carter or a fellow Rose of Mercy artist, and their tattoo will be placed on a billboard in London.

Music and tattoos have been connected passions for a long time. This isn’t the first time they’ve crossed paths and it certainly won’t be the last. The Rattlesnakes and their team have found an impactful way to tap into that, by using their song to engage the interests of their fans, embrace elements of frontman Carter’s signature style, and to help support his own small business at the same time.

Catch you next week, I’m off to get a tattoo!
