It’s been four years since Australia’s Gang Of Youths released new music, and this week their fans have been delighted to see some intriguing new teasers popping up across their feeds, in the streets, and even in their mailboxes.

The band started causing a flurry amongst fans when they wiped their socials and updated their website, sharing a short teaser clip including the words ‘The Angel of 8th Ave’. On Instagram, their first teaser has over 68 thousand views.

Some lucky fans also took to social media to share the postcards that had arrived in their mailbox which included the URL to Gang Of Youths’ new website, www.theangelof8thave.com. On the site, they found a sign up prompt, accompanied by the same teaser found on the band’s socials.

In addition to the socials revamp, website launch and post card mail out, street posters began popping up across Australia and the UK, with a brand new point of contact for fans - a phone number. Fans who rang the number have been treated to a 30 second snippet of unreleased music.

Thanks to a recent update to the Gang Of Youths’ Spotify, their back catalogue tracks now share the same canvas too. It ever so briefly displays the time and date 15.06.21 17.00 GMT - we can only guess that a new piece of the ‘Angel Of 8th Ave’ puzzle will fall into place then.

Gang Of Youths weren’t the only ones teasing a return this week . Lorde caused a massive stir when she updated her website to include artwork for ‘Solar Power’, accompanied by the caption “Arriving in 2021 … patience is a virtue”. The same art could also be found on producer Jack Antonoff’s Instagram account, where it has 246,000 likes (and counting). We now know that the teaser was pointing to the first new release from the New Zealand artist since her sophomore album ‘Melodrama’ in 2017. After a long wait for Lorde fans, the update sent the ‘Solar Power’ artwork, and Lorde’s name into viral orbit across social media.

It’s feeling like 2017 all over again and we have zero complaints. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any more sneaky updates from these artists.
