Fave: The New App Embracing The Super Fan

You might have seen the name Fave popping up in the headlines and in a couple of editions of The Habit Weekly recently. The new app could be on its way to revolutionising how we view super fandoms.

What Is It?

Fave is an app focused on providing a platform to connect fans and allow them to create and share content. On a TikTok-style feed, likeminded fans can interact with each other's videos, using the app’s clap and comment functions. They can also connect via direct and group messaging.

The app also allows users to tap into their competitive side with challenges and a point system. There's even top fan statuses and rewards to be won. Fave’s system also allows fans to purchase points. Both earned and bought points can be used to buy virtual and physical items in the app’s Fan Marketplace - where fanmade merch is available.

Fave was founded by Jacquelle Amankonah Horton - whose resume boasts roles like Product Manager at Google and Product Lead at YouTube. She’s also been listed in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list for Media & Marketing and been named in the Top Women Product Managers in Europe and World's Top 100 Young Entrepreneurs lists.

Who’s On It?

The superfan app is home to communities who love Taylor Swift, BTS and most recently, Bruno Mars.

Alongside Atlantic Records, Fave recently ran a video competition for the ‘Hooligans’ - Bruno Mars’ superfans. The creators of the best 70s-style content were rewarded with an invitation to Silk Sonic's album listening party in Atlanta.

To celebrate the fandom’s arrival on the app, Fave hosted a number of special events for the BTS Army. This included the Army Log, which allowed fans to share their stories of joining the fandom and karaoke nights - one of which took place on BTS member Jungkook’s birthday.

Taylor Swift’s Swifties were the first fandom to arrive on Fave, back when the app launched in April. The company told Music Ally that the Swifties provided them with plenty of valuable pre-launch information, as a larger, mobilising and self-sustaining fanbase. Members later praised the app for creating a judgement free space for superfans to share and connect with like minded users - an exciting response considering the app's goal to "give fans a place where they can truly let their fan flag fly."

Fans whose fandoms aren’t on Fave just yet can also vote to add it through the platform’s website.

From what we’ve seen so far, Fave have found a fantastic way to tap into the world of super fandoms. Not only does it allow fans to celebrate their interests, it provides a direct channel for artists to access and understand a group of their most invested and passionate fans. This platform is going straight to The Habit Weekly’s watch list.
