A Look At Royal
Music NFT platform Royal is offering music lovers a new way to invest in their favourite artists, by allowing fans to own a portion of their releases. Artists on Royal can choose what percentage of their releases’ royalty to offer up for purchase on the platform. Fans then buy tokens on the platform, which have embedded streaming royalty rights.
Tokens can be packaged differently for each artist’s campaign, with various tiers up for grabs - allowing for different ownership percentages, and other perks like experiences and merch. Royal is truely tapping into the super fan market, and it’s already paying off.
Today, American rapper Big Boi released his new single ‘Kill Jill (Feat. Killer Mike and Jeezy) via Royal. A quarter of the track’s ownership was up for grabs on Royal, spread across 420 purchasable tokens, and two tiers. The platinum tier token sees buyers take 0.0433% ownership of the release, while the diamond tier offers 0.7243%.
On top of ownership of the release, platinum token holders gain first dibs on the next Big Boi release, exclusive access to unreleased music and access to the Royal collector Discord channel. Those who opt for the diamond token gain First dibs on all future Big Boi drop, and a signed merch package. They can also enjoy a guided tour of Stankonia Studios, a 2-night stay at the Dungeon House, and a virtual meet and greet with Big Boi himself.
So far, Royal’s most profitable releases include Diplo’s ‘Don’t Forget My Love’, which raised $398,000 USD across 2,110 tokens and NAS’ ‘Rare’, which raised $369,000 USD across 1,110 tokens.
As it transforms the way we look at fandom and ownership, this new platform is positioning itself as one to watch.
