As we’ve been gearing up to celebrate The Habit Weekly’s first birthday, we’ve been thinking about some of the ways artists have celebrated their musical milestones. So let's take a look at some highlights!

The Vaccines

Earlier this year, The Vaccines celebrated a decade of their debut album ‘What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?’ with a deluxe version of the release. The album was boosted with 10 demos, including stripped back, muffled, and raw early track recordings. It was also reissued with a limited edition run of solid pink vinyl, packaged with a new insert and a download coupon for the original release, offering collectors a new opportunity to bolster their The Vaccines collection.

My Chemical Romance

In 2016, My Chemical Romance sparked rumours of a reunion when they updated their profile picture on Facebook and posted a teaser video, marked with the date 23rd September. Fans were a few years early on the reunion mark - the band was actually hyping up the tenth anniversary reissue of ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’.

Five years later, My Chem celebrated the album’s 15th anniversary by auctioning off artwork, created in collaboration with Soundwaves Art Foundation. Proceeds from signed and unsigned pieces, inspired by sound waves from the album, were donated to charities The Trevor Project and KultureCity. Their reunion also landed between the two anniversaries, so it was an eventual win-win for long-time fans.

Beyoncé

A year after Beyoncé made history with her Coachella headline slot in April 2018, she invited fans back to the world of ‘Beychella’ by releasing the ‘Homecoming’ documentary and live album. Not only did the film offer its audience a behind the scenes look at the process of preparing for the set, it also included footage from both of Beyoncé’s Coachella performances, so festival goers could relive their experience, and those of us who stayed at home could get in on the action. ‘Homecoming’ scored a Grammy for Best Music Film and earned six Emmy nominations.

Tame Impala

In celebration of ten years of the ‘InnerSpeaker’ album, Tame Impala shared the ‘InnerSpeaker Memories’ short film. The 15-minute video unveiled never-before-seen footage from the album’s production period at Wave House Studio in Western Australia. The film was released alongside a limited edition reissue of ‘InnerSpeaker’ which included unreleased music a 40-page booklet, album sketches and more.

Rebecca Black

And last, but certainly not least; Rebecca Black and ‘Friday’. After ten years of gettin’ down on Friday, Rebecca Black released a remixed version of the viral tune, which features Dorian Electra, Big Freedia & 3OH!3. The track was accompanied by a music video, which featured memes from the 2010s, and Black’s gold plaque for ‘Friday’, which was kickin’ in the front seat.
